Mike Shumaker, LPC-S, LMFT – Director

Sagemont Counseling Center offers clinically professional services that are distinctively Christian.  All 17 of SCC’s counselors are committed to providing care from a Christ-centered and biblically-based perspective.  God’s Word is the ultimate source of truth, and SCC counselors endorse and utilize only those psychological principles and techniques that are compatible with the Scripture.  Here are some of the areas of specialization covered by the SCC counselors:

Abuse, ADD/ADHD, Addiction, Adolescents, Adoption/Foster Care, Anger Management, Anxiety, Blended Family, Body Image, Children, Communication, Conflict Resolution, Dementia, Developmental Delays, Family, Gender/Sexuality, Grief and Loss, Life Transitions, Marriage, Men’s issues, Mood Disorders, Parenting and Grand-parenting, Personality Disorders, Relationship Difficulties, School and Home-school, Spiritual Growth, Trauma, Trust, Women’s issues.

SCC’s counselors have training and experience in “distance counseling” (video-conferencing and tele-conferencing) for clients who are unable to make the drive to the counseling center.

Heights Baptist Church of Alvin is a “preferred provider” of SCC, so HBC members receive a reduced rate for their counseling.
