Dear Heights Family,
In Mark 12:30-31 Jesus says, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ there is no greater commandment greater than these.” I have been praying and asking myself how we continue to love God and love others through this time we are facing.
With the continued spread of the coronavirus, the recommendations from the CDC, and President Trump, we have prayerfully been making plans on how to continue to worship together and minister to our community. God is giving us an opportunity to create new ways to reach more people than we ever have before! Below is the current plan. Please note we are continuing to monitor the situation and will adjust the plan accordingly.
We are suspending all activities on our campus through the end of April. This includes Sunday morning worship services, life groups, Bible studies, discipleship classes, Echo Student Ministry activities, children’s activities, our caregiver support group, and all social activities. This does not mean we are CLOSED as a church! We are open! But we are following the recommendations handed down by the CDC, the president, and our local authorities. In order to fulfill our part in loving our neighbors, we need to follow the guidelines given to us and love and serve our community by doing our part in preventing the spread of this virus.
Through this time, we will still have church services online! You can participate in these services through the following ways:
Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am on the Heights Baptist Church Facebook page. If you miss the service, you can find it on the Facebook page later, watch it on the Heights Baptist Church YouTube page, or listen to the sermon on your podcast app or on the church website.
Starting April 5, all our life groups will be resuming with modifications. Your life group teacher will be in contact with you about your class.
The Echo Student Ministry and Children’s Ministry are building online content for life groups and for Wednesday night services. Stay tuned for more information about that.
The office will be open on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 am-1:00 pm at this time. If you like, you may mail your tithe, instead of bringing it by the office, to Heights Baptist Church, PO Box 819, Alvin TX 77511.
I believe these measures will not only allow you to remain safe but will help us find new ways to love and lead our community to a new life with Christ. Jesus promised that nothing would ever stop the spread of the gospel message! We have an opportunity to keep praying, keep reading the Bible, keep having gospel conversations with others, and keep being a church through this time! Thank you all for all you do. Please contact me with any questions you have. I am happy to help.
